Running classes and coaching in Bangkok: group training, track sessions and trail camps
Looking for running classes near you in Bangkok? Free club training sessions, track workouts, trail camps and how to choose a running coach — plus free tools to plan your training.
You don't need to pay for a coach to train properly in Bangkok. Several run clubs run structured, coached-style sessions for free, and the city's tracks and parks are made for workouts. Here's where to find running classes and coaching — free and paid.
Free group training with run clubs
These clubs run structured sessions with pace groups — the closest thing to a free running class:
- [Seuxphen Running Team](club:seuxphen-running-team) — Tuesday 6:00 PM at Thephasadin Stadium, with pace groups from 4:30 to 8:00 min/km. Coaches and experienced runners are part of the crew.
- [Bangkok Runners](club:bangkok-runners) — Tuesday 6:30 AM at Benjakitti Park, easy-paced 5–7 km in a big, welcoming group.
- [Lumpini Running Club](club:lumpini-running-club) — Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Lumpini Park.
- [Run Now Fab Later Crew](club:run-now-fab-later-crew) — city runs, long runs and trail camps.
"Running Tiger" crew with free Tuesday 6 PM training at Thephasadin Stadium for paces from 4:30 to 8:00 min/km.
Friendly Meetup group running easy loops of Benjakitti Park every Tuesday at 6:30 AM since 2012.
Open evening runs every Tuesday and Thursday at Lumpini Park for all levels, welcoming beginners to experienced runners.
Colourful but serious Bangkok crew mixing city runs, trail runs and long runs.
Track sessions
Interval training is easiest on a running track, where every lap is 400 m and there's no traffic. Thephasadin Stadium in the National Stadium area hosts Seuxphen's Tuesday session. Use our pace calculator and VO2max calculator to set your interval paces.
Trail running
Bangkok itself is flat, so trail running happens outside the city. Crews like Run Now Fab Later organise trail camps, and Bangkok's hash runs are a fun way to get off-road on the city's outskirts every week.
Hiring a running coach: what to look for
- A recognised coaching qualification and athletes at your level, not only elites.
- Experience coaching in heat — a plan copied from a cool climate will overcook you in Bangkok. Ask how they adjust paces for humidity.
- Structure you can see: a weekly plan with easy runs, one or two quality sessions and a long run, adjusted every few weeks.
- Easy-run discipline: most of your training should be easy (see our Zone 2 guide).
- A trial period before committing to months of coaching.
