Night running in Bangkok: evening run clubs and the best places to run after dark

Not a morning person? Bangkok's evening and night runs — after-work clubs, Friday night socials, night hashes — plus where it's safe and well-lit to run after dark.

Most guides tell you to run at dawn in Bangkok. But plenty of runners can't — or won't — get up at 5 AM, and the city's evening running scene is just as lively. After sunset the temperature drops a little, the parks fill with office workers, and several clubs run every week.

Evening and night run clubs

These clubs run after work or at night. Schedules come from each club's latest posts — check their Instagram before you go.

Prefer something more adventurous? Bangkok's hash runs happen on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, plus a monthly full-moon hash — bring a head torch.

Where to run after dark

  • Lumpini Park is the safest choice: lit paths, lots of people until closing and an easy 2.5 km loop. Remember the park pauses for the national anthem at 6 PM.
  • Benjakitti Park is busy on weekday evenings and has well-lit main paths around the lake.
  • Running tracks like the one at Thephasadin Stadium, where Seuxphen trains on Tuesdays, are lit and car-free.
  • Check park closing times — most public parks close in the evening, so plan longer runs to finish before the gates shut.

Staying safe at night

  • Wear something reflective or a small light, especially if you cross roads to reach the park.
  • Run with a group or on busy, lit routes; avoid empty side streets and unlit canal paths.
  • Footpaths are uneven and drains can be uncovered — watch your step more than usual after dark.
  • Carry your phone and a little cash for a ride home.
