Everything about the 37th Bangkok Marathon on 10 January 2027 — midnight start times, distances, fees, registration deadline — plus the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok and how to prepare.
Bangkok has two big marathons each season: the long-running Bangkok Marathon, now in its 37th edition, and the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok. Both run through the old city at night to avoid the heat, which makes them unlike almost any other big-city marathon.

Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok
The Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok is the city's other major marathon, held on 28–29 November 2026 from Sanam Luang, also in the old town. If you can't make January, it's the alternative — or do both, seven weeks apart, if you're feeling brave.
Racing at midnight: how to prepare
- Practise night running. Do a few long runs in the evening so your body and stomach know what it feels like to run late. Our guide to night running in Bangkok lists evening groups.
- Plan your sleep. Try a 2–3 hour nap in the late afternoon on race day, and eat a normal meal about four hours before your start.
- Plan transport both ways. BTS and MRT stop around midnight, so book a taxi or Grab to the start and plan your trip home after sunrise.
- Respect the heat even at night. Bangkok is still warm and humid at 2 AM. Drink at every station and take electrolytes on the full and half.
- Collect your bib early. Race kits are picked up at an expo before the race; bring ID and your registration confirmation.
Training in Bangkok
Long runs are easiest on the Lumpini–Benjakitti loop via the Green Mile or at Rot Fai Park. First half marathon? Follow our 12-week half marathon plan. Training with a group helps too: see all marathons in Bangkok and find a run club to train with.
