HYROX Bangkok: a runner's guide to the hybrid fitness race
HYROX is one of 2026's biggest fitness trends. What the race involves, the 8 stations, HYROX Bangkok 2027 at BITEC, and how runners can train for it in Bangkok.
Hybrid racing is one of the fastest-growing trends in endurance sport, and HYROX is the biggest name in it. It suits runners well — half of the race is running — but the other half will humble anyone who only runs. Here's what to expect and how to prepare in Bangkok.
What is HYROX?
HYROX is an indoor fitness race with the same format in every city, so results can be compared worldwide. You run 1 km, then complete a workout station — eight times, for 8 km of running in total. The stations always come in this order:
- 1,000 m SkiErg
- Sled push
- Sled pull
- 80 m burpee broad jumps
- 1,000 m row
- 200 m farmers carry
- 100 m sandbag lunges
- 100 wall balls
You can race solo (Open or the heavier Pro division), as a doubles pair, or in a relay team of four. Weights depend on the division.
HYROX in Bangkok
Bangkok's 2026 race took place in August at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, next to Benjakitti Park. The next edition is listed for 11–14 February 2027 at BITEC Bang Na. Spots for popular waves sell out, so check the official HYROX site for registration.
Training for HYROX as a runner
- Practise running tired. The hard part is running 1 km straight after a sled push or wall balls. Do "compromised running": a hard gym exercise, then go straight into a 1 km run.
- Build strength twice a week: squats, lunges, deadlifts and carries matter far more here than in road racing.
- Learn the machines. SkiErg and rowing technique save a lot of energy; many Bangkok gyms have both.
- Keep your aerobic base. Easy running still decides most of your time — see our Zone 2 guide.
- Pace the runs evenly. Use the pace calculator to set a target 1 km split and hold it, rather than sprinting the first runs.
